Taurus (Roll over image for labels)   HOME INDEX BACK NEXT

Taurus, the bull, is one of the 12 constellations of the zodiac. It includes two prominent open clusters that easily seen with the naked eye, the Pleiades (or Seven Sisters) and the Hyades. Two other open clusters, NGC 1647 and NGC 1746, are good objects for binoculars. The first-magnitude star Aldebaran is red giant star that does not appear particularly colorful in this image. The location of Messier 1, the Crab Nebula is indicated on the rollover image, but it is too dim to be seen in this picture.
