Saturn and 7 of its moons are visible, some very close to the planet, and one quite far away. At this point in Saturn's 29-year orbit, its rings are closing up from our perspective, and they appear nearly edge-on. (Compare the view to what it looked like in 2020 by clicking on the BACK button.)
This is a composite image: The image of Saturn is based on a video with short exposures, but longer exposures were needed to capture the much dimmer moons. Roll over the image to see the names of the moons.
Image details: Saturn image is from a stack of 500 video frames taken with a Canon T6i camera through a 14-inch Meade LX850 telescope at f/8. For the different moons, exposures of 1/20 second and 1 second were stacked and blended into this composite image.
