Globular cluster in Delphinus
This is a somewhat small cluster that lies a few degrees south of the dolphin shape of Delphinus, on the edge of the Milky Way. Some of its individual stars can be discerned with large amateur telescopes. Since our galaxy is roughly 100,000 light years in diamteter, NGC 6934 is half a galaxy away. It is impressive to think about what our telescopes can see at such large distances.
Image details: Exposure times of 30 minutes each of luminance, red, green and blue, taken with an SBIG STF-8300M imager and a 14" Meade LX850 telescope at f/8. September 2019
