Galaxy in Canes Venatici

This edge-on spiral galaxy is relatively close to us, and it presents a striking sight through a telescope. It is very long, with a brighter center, and mottling along its length in both directions. It is a member of the Canes Venatici I group of galaxies, which also includes Messier 94, NGC 4449, and about a dozen other galaxies.
