Gibbous Moon   HOME INDEX BACK NEXT

When the Moon is almost full, there are not many shadows of craters and mountains to be seen, but there are still plenty of interesting features to observe. The rays extending from the largest craters are plainly visible. Two of the most prominent are Tycho to the south, and Copernicus to te upper right of center. Subtle differences in the colors of different parts of the surface can also be seen.
