Galaxy Cluster in Ursa Major

This galaxy cluster is located in the southern part of Ursa Major, near the constellation border with Leo. Several of the galaxies are listed in the NGC catalog and are bright enough to be spotted visually in large amateur telescopes.

Two bright galaxies to the left of center are interacting and display a long and impressive tidal tail stretching to the north. Because of the shape of these galaxies and their tail, they are known as "the guitar."
